Heidi Barrett, who is famous for making the most sought after wines like Barbour Vineyards, Dalla Valle, Grace Family, Jones Family, Paradigm and Screaming Eagle, hits another home-run with her 2004 Revana Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Robert Parker rated it 90 points!) The nose is wide open with ripe fruit aromas of blackberry, cherry, and dark chocolate. Explosive flavors in the mouth of beautiful ripe fruit similar to the aromas, a rich lush mouth feel and amazing length. Very silky yet powerful. Tannins are imperceptible yet this wine has backbone and tons of fruit character that will lend itself well during aging. This friendly wine should evolve for a decade. 2005 K “Guido” Walla Walla Valley Sangiovese - $41 Charles Smith, el Presidente and Winemaker, No Cal hippie, and 11-year resident of Scandanavia, is the intensity and passion behind K Vintners, located at the base of the Blue Mountains in Walla Walla Washington. He has been involved with wine personally and professionally his whole life, and he LOVES to drink wine. “Guido” is 86 % Sangiovese and 14 % Syrah, for additional depth. Its pure anise, tiny Italian cherries, tobacco and cedar: true Sangiovese character. It drinks like a Super Tuscan or, dare I say, Brunello? Only 330 produced.
